- Mordichrist appears to be a promising black metal project, but behind any accomplishment there are the members that give esence to the band. Could you ilustrate the personalities behind this name?
We are two Dictators who are connected to each other, with same thoughts and ideas like one unit. But of course we are two individuals: Nenia and Chaq Mol.
- Still refering to individualities, do you have any other projects working on? And if you do, how have these affected the development of Mordichrist?
You can not call it for a project, but if you mean if we play in an other band. Yes! Chaq Mol plays guitar in Dark Funeral. I separate my work in Dark Funeral and Mordichrist.
- You call yourselves "dictators" and in my mind rised the idea of a connection between the titles of the 3 demos [2001's The root, the embryo; 2002's Hatred on repeat; 2003's The blood rise] and this noun. Is Mordichrist based on an ideology, having a well defined path to follow?
The path is simple but also complicated. But let us be simple here. We are Mordichrist, bigger than above, below and all between. The first demo was when the embryo was growing inside us. The rest of the numbers of demos was the path of chaos and disorder who gave us a record deal with Danza Ipnotica Records. Mordichrist S/T was born and the demo era was seald in the cave of the past. From here and the future you are gonna see what Mordichrist are about.
- I refered only the 3 demos because "S/T" is still a mistery for me. Can you unveil it?
All the songs on Mordichrist S/T are from the demos, so all of you that missed to by the demos, can now buy the Mordichrist S/T instead. The demo era is over.
- Being more than one person, although the idea might be shared, the question is who is expressing it into lyrics, into sounds?
When we create a new song it starts with some guitar licks and a text idea. Chaq Mol starts with the guitar and then we arrange it together. Nenia comes up with the text and shows me some killer ideas. The rest is just magic.
- What kind of reactions do you expect from the listeners to the fact that the vocals are sustained by a woman?
No reactions at all! If you think about the fact that Baphomet is both female and male. You can not separate that without consequences, you can not separate Nenia and Chaq Mol without consequences. We expect worship.
- The configuration of the band has changed through the years. Is reaching a stable, permanent line-up a wish for the future? And has this anything to do with the fact that, at least for now, you are not a concert's band?
The only thing that counts are that we (Nenia and Chaq Mol) are still a unit. Then members can come and go. But in the future we will have a stable band and will also do gigs.
- What determined you to found Mordichrist, a daring step, as art asks for its sacrifices?
It´s a need like nutrition for our dark souls.
- What do you want people to think of when they hear Mordichrist, both the name and the music it creates?
